Michael is a certified Stretch Flo Neural Myofascial stretch specialist. This stretc hing method works though the Fascial nets, which are an intricate, interconnected web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every structure in the body, including muscles, bones, organs, and nerves. Fascia wraps around and connects through the body very similar to how the pith (white fibrous material) surrounds, penetrates and sections an orange.
This continuous, fluid-like network is made of collagen and other proteins, providing the body with structural support and stability. It connects different parts of the body and allows for coordinated movement and function, meaning that issues in one area can impact others. It has connections to the nervous system which are part of the feedback system for motion and stability. If fascia becomes too tight, it can signal muscles to contract and become chronically tight as well.
The passive stretch a client receives, allows both fascia and muscle to relax by down regulating the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and up regulating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and restore).
